The Bihar State Power Holding Company (BSPHCL)’s green measures are helping the company save millions of papers, which is in sync with the vision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who in 2019 launched the ambitious ‘Jal Jeevan Hariyali’ program to save the crumbling natural resources. The ‘Jal Jeevan Hariyali’ program, has set a goal of raising the forest cover in the state to 17%.
The Suvidha App
“We on January 1 2020, launched the Suvidha App, which has helped us save more than 1,68,33,575 numbers of papers.
The app provides a one-stop solution to 13 services, which were erstwhile being provided through cumbersome mechanical method of filling up the forms,” said BSPHCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Sanjeev Hans.
“BSPHCL provides services to more than 16 million consumers through its two DISCOMs – North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited.
Our count of saving more than 10 million papers is based on saving the papers that were used by the consumers to fill up the lengthy forms.
The Suvidha App has brought transparency in the system and empowered our consumers. They can now, through the application, track the status of the processing of the service,” he said.
Through the Suvidha App, customers can get services such as bill on a missed call, new service connection for LT, HT, and Smart Prepaid Meter customers; bill view and payment; self-bill generation; mobile number update; e-mail update; load enhancement; load reduction; application for solar rooftop net metering; and Go Green/e-bill.
“There have been 1 million installations of the application. It has garnered 27,000 reviews,” a senior BSPHCL official stated, citing statistics from Google Playstore.
Google has given the app a 4.1 rating.” According to the latest numbers from BSPHCL, 34,70,327 consumer requests were received on the Suvidha App, with 25,48,260 being processed.
“The speed of disposal of requests has increased the credibility among the consumers. At every stage, a consumer can view the status of the application. Officials can monitor the real-time movement of the application and check disruption at any level,” said Hans.
