Climate negotiators from nearly every country will gather for two weeks in early November to discuss climate change. The meeting is called COP26. What is it about?
The decades have taken my government on COP26:
There is a lot of buzz around COP26 climate change carbon emission leaders meeting in Glasgow. And talking about climate commitments. The World government has met for almost three decades and worked on climate change. Where every country has to change under a treaty and find ways to reduce greenhouse gases globally. So, COP stands for the conference of parties under the UNFCCC ( United Nations Framework Convention on climate change). It’s taking place in Glasgow this year after a gap of the year due to the pandemic and it’s the 26th meeting. It starts on October 31st and will go on till 12th November.
TRASH WHEEL- can be a positive initiative for the planet.
John Kellet and his experiments:
In the early Noughties John Kellett, a sailor, and engineer from the US city of Baltimore, encountered this plastic a lot more than the average person. Having worked in the city’s harbor for several years, he found that the plastic floating in the water regularly. One day, he decided to explore an experiment on it.
it’s a rotating device with a belt to pull rubbish and debris out of the inner harbor before it entered the main bay. The apparatus quickly grabbed the attention of a local nonprofit, who awarded Kellett funding to create a bigger, more effective trash wheel.
The uses a combination of solar and hydroelectric power to turn a waterwheel. Which in turn powers a conveyor belt to pull rubbish out of the water and deposit it in a skip. Since the wheel first started turning, it’s collected more than one million plastic bottles, 800,000 plastic bags, and 12 cigarette butts.
